The 102nd Arizona Amateur Championship is underway, bringing together 130 of the state’s top amateur golfers to compete in one of Arizona’s most prestigious championships.

Among this year’s field is 14-year-old Nolan Wilson, the youngest competitor in the championship. A participant in First Tee - Phoenix, Nolan advanced to match play and earned the No. 25 seed after qualifying.

His presence in the field is a reminder of the important role youth development programs play in creating opportunities for the next generation of golfers and growing the game across Arizona. Good luck to Nolan and all of the competitors who advanced to match play.

Last week, the Arizona Alliance for Golf led the Arizona contingent to Washington, D.C. for National Golf Day - joining golf industry leaders from across the country to advocate for the game at the federal level.

From tax policy to turfgrass research, the delegation met with congressional offices to advocate for the issuesthat matter most to our industry - and to share golf’s enormous impact to the state.

Proud to stand alongside so many dedicated leaders working to protect and grow the game at every level.

The 2026 WM Phoenix Open raised a record-breaking $20.1 million for charity, setting a new benchmark for charitable giving and reinforcing the important role golf plays in supporting Arizona communities.

From youth programs and adaptive sports to healthcare, education, and countless local nonprofits, these dollars create meaningful impact long after the final putt drops.

Congratulations to The Thunderbirds, WM, and all of the partners, volunteers, and fans who helped make this achievement possible. Your commitment to giving back continues to make a lasting difference across Arizona.

Arizona has become a leading example of how responsible water stewardship, environmental sustainability, and high-quality playing conditions can work together to benefit both communities and local ecosystems.

That’s why Golf selected Arizona as the focus of a three-part episode of The Green Report. For more than 30 years, Syngenta Golf has been a global leader in turf management solutions, serving golf courses in 43 countries and investing in innovations that support the long-term economic and environmental sustainability of the game.

Golf in Arizona has long been a natural fit for philanthropy, driving an estimated $100 million in charitable fundraising each year. Events like this underscore why it’s important to protect and promote golf across the state and celebrate the power of our sport to fuel charities, uplift families, and build communities across Arizona.

In the May issue of PGA Magazine, longtime PGA Professional and Arizona resident Jeff Lessig makes a compelling case for why the golf industry needs to show up for the game right now.

As water scarcity and land regulation become increasingly scrutinized across the Southwest, unified advocacy isn’t just important. It’s necessary.

Behind so many of Arizona’s golf programs, scholarships, mentorship opportunities, and community initiatives are nonprofits working every day to make a difference - and the Arizona Golf Fund exists to help support that work.

From creating leadership opportunities for young people to helping open doors for individuals who may have never even picked up a club, the game continues to positively shape communities across our state.

Across the state, courses are continuing to invest in smarter irrigation technology, turf reduction, weather monitoring systems, and other advanced agronomic practices designed to maximize every drop of water possible while still maintaining healthy playing conditions.

Arizona golf facilities currently account for roughly 2% of the state’s total water use, and many courses are actively working to reduce that number even further.

Appreciate ABC15 and Alta Mesa Golf Club for helping spotlight the ongoing work being done across Arizona golf to prioritize efficiency, innovation, and long-term sustainability.
