🌌 PAS at the 36th Grand Canyon Star Party! 🔭

Few members of the Phoenix Astronomical Society had an amazing time sharing the night sky with visitors from around the world under the breathtaking dark skies of the Grand Canyon. From stunning Milky Way views to unforgettable telescope observations, it was a fantastic week of astronomy outreach and community.

As June arrives, the desert sky completes its seasonal transition.
This is prime time for deep-sky observing. The great galaxy fields of Virgo and Coma Berenices still hold court in the western evening sky, while Leo makes its graceful descent toward the horizon. To the east, the Summer Triangle—marked by Vega, Deneb, and Altair—climbs higher each night, heralding the return of the rich Milky Way of summer. Early risers are already rewarded with the galactic center rising in Sagittarius before dawn, offering a preview of the spectacular nights ahead.
Monsoon season waits in the wings, but June typically brings some of the year's last reliably clear and stable nights before the seasonal storms arrive. Make the most of them.
