In 2022, Get Healthy Scott County premiered "The Working Hungry" documentary to highlight food insecurity issues faced by Hoosiers. The same producers have created a sequel, "Food, Insecure." This documentary is special to Scott County as it features our very own Scott County Community Clearinghouse and Clearinghouse staff member, Mary Holwager. Please join us as we premier "Food, Insecure" on Thursday, February 13 at noon at the Lifelong Learning Center. This event is open to the community, and a light lunch will be served.

How can you make a difference in su***de prevention?

✔ Ask: “Are you thinking about ending your life? Research shows people who are having thoughts of su***de feel relief when someone asks after them in a caring way. Findings suggest acknowledging and talking about su***de may reduce rather than increase su***des.

✔ Keep Them Safe: If you’re concerned about someone’s wellbeing, removing access or disabling lethal means can make a difference.

✔ Be There: Individuals are more likely to feel less depressed, less suicidal, less overwhelmed, and more hopeful by speaking to someone who listens without judgment.

✔ Help Them Connect: Save the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline number (call or text 988) and the Crisis Text Line number (741741) in your phone so they’re there if you need them. You can also help make a connection with a trusted individual like a family member, friend, spiritual advisor, or mental health professional.

✔ Stay Connected: Staying in touch after a crisis with the person who is experiencing suicidal thoughts can make a difference. Studies have shown the number of su***de deaths goes down when someone follows up with the at-risk person.

Hi! A group I am working with would like to do a community event/project next month for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I would like to have a mobile screening option for people that attend. Does anyone have a contact for something like that? Thanks!
