Mother Nature didn’t dam up the freely flowing Tennessee River and collect the entire region’s power bills for the last 100 years (and in perpetuity) only to abandon this lake it created and still owns as soon as the upkeep started to become a relatively small line item on their balance sheet. Only TVA would do something that awful….
August is month here on Lake G!! Post your best “grassed-in” pics and let’s show them just how much we’re having, and that they’re missing out on!!

This is 5 days after the Dragon Boat Races…. Where are the TVA harvester boats now??? They’re not fooling anybody. Now imagine this is your dock and you just paid +$1,000 last week to have it all cleaned out. Here’s a FUN CHALLENGE for everyone: Try to go get gas at Goosepond Marina during the month of August without your engine overheating. If you can do it without stopping to back w**d off, you’re a “My Lake Guntersville” LAKE LEGEND.

Today was another wonderful day on the water for the Save Lake Guntersville dragon boat team!! This group has proven to have all the drive, grit, fortitude and purpose it takes to make it all the way to the Championship every single year. We love this event, not only for the community support and awareness it has helped raise over the past three years, but also because it is a super fun day spent having a big time with family and great friends while giving back to our beloved town. Hard to beat. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

But what about TVA’s prideful claims of being “self-funded” and “not at all funded by the taxpayers”?? I guess the only thing TVA can sustain with “rate-payer” money are their inflated salaries. 🇺🇸

The Tennessee Valley Authority applied for and received more than $115 million in funding from the Trump administration to support operations of its largest coal-fired power plant, previously scheduled to close by 2028.

Well, surprise surprise!! Did they do any in the previous weeks?? 😂😂😂 Sorry y’all.

NO TREATMENT NEXT WEEK. Neither TVA nor the WET Foundation will do any aquatic plant management on Guntersville Lake next week. They sent out this statement:

Due to the shortened holiday work week TVA will not make any Aquatic Plant Management Program treatments on Guntersville Reservoir during the week of May 25th through 29th, 2026. Treatments will resume the following week (June 1st).

Today the chairman and co-founder of My Lake Guntersville got to speak face-to-face with the brand new TVA Board of Directors! Guess how many times our eelgrass problem came up in his speech? What a great opportunity this would’ve been to ask for TVA’s help? Funding for harvesters, or to hire local removal contractors, or to otherwise meaningfully contribute? Nope.
