Leadership Jackson County application period is now open!!!
Leadership Jackson County is a program designed to develop and enhance community leadership. Participants from diverse backgrounds will gain expanded knowledge of our community, develop relationships and acquire skills to assure a more active and effective volunteer role in addressing community needs.
Participants in Leadership Jackson County will have the unique opportunity to learn more about the landscape and people of Jackson County. The class will be exposed monthly to different aspects of what makes Jackson County a great place to work, live and play. The class begins with an orientation day where participants will network and develop team building skills. This will be followed by monthly tours emphasizing agriculture, history, community services and healthcare, education, economic development and local government. New to this year’s program will be Energy and Finance Day, where participants will learn about energy needs in Jackson County and learn about personal financial growth. Participants will also spend two days in Montgomery learning about state government and meeting their representatives as part of the Montgomery Drive-In.
Applications for the next class are available at the Jackson County Extension Office in the Jackson County Courthouse Annex located at 205 Liberty Lane in Scottsboro or email Matthew Webb at [email protected]. Deadline for applying is August 14th and the cost is $650 per participant. The class will be limited to 16 participants this year. The class will begin in late September or early October.
