Shovels in the ground in Gering. 🏑

This afternoon we broke ground on Prairie Sky Villas, 11 new duplex structures bringing 22 workforce housing units to our community. 🚧

This project is funded through Trusted Community Development's Rural Workforce Housing Fund, through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. πŸ˜οΈπŸ’°

Work like this doesn't happen without great partners like Integrity Developments LLC, Cinda Munoz and Randy Strom with the Buyer's Realty Team at Nebraska Realty, and the City of Gering. πŸ™Œ

This is what regional growth looks like. 🌱

Happy National Mascot Day to the one, the only, Sparky Goldwest! ⚑

Some mascots have fur. Some have feathers. Some have foam heads. We gave ours a VOICE. πŸ—£οΈ

That's right. In honor of National Mascot Day, Sparky is officially speaking for the first time, and he has a lot to say about it. πŸŽ™οΈ

πŸ”ŠTurn up your volume and meet the newly vocal face of Trusted Community Development.

πŸ“… Summer isn't even "officially" here, and it's already flying by.
Trying to keep track of it all? The TCD Calendar is your go-to spot for local festivals, fundraisers, classes, and grand openings.

πŸ‘‰ Check out what's coming up: https://www.tcdne.org/news-and-events/community-events

⚑ Help us fill in the blanks!
Our calendar is only as good as what the community puts into it. If you are hosting an event and don't see it on the list yet, let's fix that.

It takes just a couple of minutes, costs absolutely nothing, and helps ensure your hard work gets noticed.

Most of the TCD team spent the week at the NEDA Annual Conference, which meant someone had to stay behind and keep an eye on things.

That someone was Sparky. πŸ‘€

Hey, it's me. Sparky Goldwest, Economic Curiosity Coordinator and this week's Interim Everything. ⚑

I answered phones. I checked emails. I supervised the coffee maker.
Okay, I mostly supervised the coffee maker. β˜•

I also briefly considered updating my title to Executive Director. Jordan comes back today, so that window is closing fast.

The good news? The office is still standing, nobody accidentally sold Western Nebraska, and the team is heading home with new ideas, new connections, and probably a few extra business cards.
I would call that a successful week. 🌾

Trusted Community Development is attending the NEDA Annual Conference in Kearney today, joining economic development professionals from across Nebraska for conversations around community growth, partnerships, and the future of our state. 🌾

A highlight of the conference was hearing from Cory Hepola, host of The My Town Series. His message reinforces something we believe strongly: community storytelling IS economic development. πŸ“–

The way communities share their stories shapes perception, strengthens pride, supports talent attraction, and helps people see opportunity in places they may have overlooked. πŸ”

For Western Nebraska, showing up in statewide conversations matters. So does bringing ideas back home that help our communities tell their stories with clarity, confidence, and purpose. πŸ’™πŸ—ΊοΈ

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, and represent our region.
