We want to wrap up 2025 by seeing YOUR favorite bird of 2025! Share a photo, story, or both in the comments below! Check out the favorite birds from our Nebraska Education team! P.S. We know how hard it is to ask you to share just one bird(!).
While you are at it, be sure to register for the 1st Day Birding Walk, because there is no better way to start the New Year than with birds and being outside.

📷 Photo 1 - Low quality image, high quality moment when Education Manager, Delanie, found the Crested Caracara that was hanging out near Lewellen earlier this month!
📷 Photos 2-7 - From Environmental Educator, Noelle. As I reflect on the numerous memorable birding experiences I have had both in Nebraska and elsewhere in 2025, I have come to realize that it is the birds closest to home that have brought me the most joy. Our family’s backyard has hosted a record of 38 different species over the past year, including our pesky yet highly entertaining resident “Flock O’ House Sparrows” and the Cooper’s Hawks that are always testing their luck in hunting them, 1st time visitors such as a Lazuli Bunting, a Lincoln’s Sparrow, a Gray Catbird, a Green-tailed Towhee and most recently a Merlin, and the bird that still brings me the most joy of all – our “rare” White-winged Dove.
