โฐ Donโ€™t Forget to โ€œFall Backโ€ and Stay Safe! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Tonight we gain an extra hour of sleep as the clocks fall back โ€” but before you get too cozy, take a minute to check and change your smoke alarm and CO detector batteries!

โœ… Working smoke alarms cut the risk of home fire deaths in half.
โœ… Carbon monoxide detectors save lives โ€” especially as heating season begins.
โœ… Test each alarm after changing the batteries to make sure theyโ€™re working properly.

A quick reminder from your friends at the Justus Volunteer Fire Company:
Change your clocks, change your batteries, and protect what matters most. โค๏ธ

Stay safe!

๐Ÿ–ค In Memory of K9 Dave ๐Ÿ–ค

The members of the Justus Volunteer Fire Company extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Scott Township Police Department, especially Patrolman James Bassani, on the unexpected loss of his partner, Active Duty K9 โ€œDaveโ€.

K9 Dave faithfully served the residents of Scott Township and beyond, always ready to answer the call โ€” whether assisting in police operations or supporting fire and EMS incidents. His dedication, loyalty, and skill were unmatched. Many will remember K9 Daveโ€™s courage and professionalism, including the night he was instrumental in locating a lost elderly person in a wooded area, bringing relief and hope to a worried family.

This loss is felt deeply throughout our township and neighboring communities. K9 Daveโ€™s service and spirit will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, good boy. Weโ€™ve got it from here. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

Hazmat Incident
Life Science Dr

Around 8:15 this morning, Station 28 Fire and EMS along with Engine and Tanker 36 were dispatched to PharmaCann for the report of a Co2 tank that had ruptured. While responding, Chief 28-A was advised by Tanker 36 that there was an active leak from a large exterior tank and the building was evacuated prompting a response from the county EMA team.

Chief 28-A would extend the evacuation zone due to the gusty winds and units would stage awaiting the arrival of EMA. EMA would request Eagle Hazmat to the scene as well as Airgas, the company responsible for the tank. After approximately an hour and a half, a service technician arrived on scene and was able to control the leak. Once the system was de-pressurized, firefighters from 28 and 36 would enter the structure to conduct air monitoring to ensure the safety of the employees before being released back into the building.

Units would operate for just over 2 hours before being released.

Units on scene: Chief 28-A, E28, Amb 28-8, E36, T36 and Lackawanna County EMA.
