NEBTR Buster Virtual Foster

NEBTR Buster Virtual Foster Buster is a blind, deaf male and an owner surrender to a shelter in MA. Given up on his 15th birthday, his family was moving and couldn't take him.

Permanently closed.

Northeast Boston Rescue (NEBTR) is comprised of volunteers based in NY/NJ/PA and CT and serves Boston Terriers in need within reach of our helping hands. NEBTR’s single priority in Rescue is to serve the needs of the individual dog in our care. While many loving homes, individuals and families apply to adopt rescue dogs, we frequently receive multiple applicants for a dog. Therefore, our placement

process is intended to supply the dog with a home suitable to meets its individual needs. Rescue volunteers also receive the same screening procedures, as do our adopters. Medical costs are soaring and even the smallest donation makes a difference. It may pay for a doctor’s visit; contribute to the cost of an emergency surgery if necessary or for the general care for the dog. Many of these dogs will not be able to be adopted due to their issues, but they are loved by their foster families and cared for lovingly. We are grateful for whatever you are able to give and have given you the opportunity of being a Guardian or Angel Sponsor to that dog.

General information

Buster's surrendering family had him since he was a puppy. He is extremely sweet and mellow and about 30 lbs. He also appears to have some hair loss, and sensitive skin; he has yet to have a full medical evaluation to date. Upon getting Buster, he is was cleaned, had otomax in his ears, his skin coated in coconut oil, scrapes and sores have been soothed with balm. He has severe cataracts in both eyes, teeth are severe and gums and salivary glands swollen, so dental is needed. All of that and he is great with all people and pets including cats. Buster is a real sweetheart, considering his world was just turned upside down. The shelter contacted NEBTR and our volunteers came to the rescue! He is a bit stubborn, but who wouldn't be at 15. The poor gentleman is not only blind but also mostly deaf with a pair of bad hips. His new foster mom says that (despite not having thumbs) he reminds her of an old blues musician from New Orleans. Years on the road has left him blind, mostly deaf, and with little traveling gear and has decided to spend the rest of his retirement in upstate New York. Well, we like this story so much better because he just hit the lottery with his new forever foster mom. She will be taking him to the doctors to ensure we can keep his remaining hearing ability in tact and put him on pain medicine for his hips. This way, he will be able to continue to play his music... Despite all his issues, he is really in pretty good health. He needs some TLC and peace and quiet of which he will get plenty in his new home. We have decided to share his story and allow him to be a virtual foster for those who want to sponsor and love him and keep up to date with his daily antics. He had been nicknamed Old Man River - stay tuned for more about this lovely older gentleman.
