Camp Mujigae Camp Mujigae (Rainbow) is a Korean culture camp in the Albany, NY region founded in 1986 by a group of adoptive parents. old. Camp Mujigae has no paid staff.

Now in its 39th season, Camp Mujigae continues to serve Korean-American families by hosting cultural, social, and educational events. HISTORY OF CAMP MUJIGAE - Founded in 1986

34 years ago some brave parents began planning the first Camp Mujigae (which means Camp Rainbow), which served 25 children over a two-day period. The programs have grown to serve over 300 children annually from infants to 18 yrs. The last day of camp is Family Day, which is organized by the Korean Presbyterian Church. Family Day includes cultural festivities, Korean entertainment, Korean food, a store filled with Korean items and much socializing. For a number of years in a row 800 plus campers, family members and citizens from the community have attended Family Day. The Camp could not exist were it not for the volunteers from the Korean Presbyterian Church of Albany, which conducts the cultural program. Classes include crafts, Taekwondo, cooking, music, language, history and folklore, among others. Students from Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, South Korean also provide special classes each year. Planning has become a year round committee project and Camp Mujigae is a not-for-profit corporation with tax exempt status.

🌏✨ We're honored to celebrate our partnership with Sookmyung Women's University as they mark their 120th Anniversary!

A special thank you to Professor Hyung-jin Lee, Ph.D., who traveled with SIWA as an advisor and shared an article highlighting Camp Mujigae and the inspiring work of SIWA's leaders during their U.S. travels.

Camp Mujigae 2026: Memories Made, Legacy Continued

As we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Camp Mujigae, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that made this milestone so meaningful.

To our dedicated volunteers, supportive parents, devoted SIWA members, alumni, and everyone who has held Camp Mujigae close to their hearts over the years—thank you. Your generosity, encouragement, and unwavering commitment continue to create a place where friendships are formed, traditions are cherished, and our Korean heritage is celebrated with pride.

This year was a beautiful reminder that Camp Mujigae is more than a summer camp—it is a family. Seeing new and lifelong friendships flourish, watching campers grow in confidence, and witnessing generations come together to support one another made our 40th anniversary truly unforgettable.

As we honor the memories we've created together, we also look ahead with excitement and hope. Here's to the next chapter of Camp Mujigae, where we will continue to inspire, connect, and build a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Camp Mujigae is happy to once again provide a plated Korean lunch, catered by Son of Egg. Please join us for Family Day (Monday, June 29) for lunch as we celebrate 40 years of Mujigae!!

Families can save $5 by pre-purchasing their meals online, plus it helps us to plan for the appropriate amount of food.

Each plate is $20 if pre-paid online through Saturday, June 13; $25 if purchased after June 13, online or at Camp Mujigae. (All tickets can be picked up at the Camp Store.)
