Thanks to everyone for braving the heat and smoke to attend National Night Out at the fire station in Scio. It was great to see so many familiar faces and to meet some new people. Thanks to our numerous sponsors and to all the folks to helped run the event. For reference, the name of the band is The Usual Suspects and your servers were your Scio city council members and the Scio Fire District fire board members. Here are a few pictures we took. Tonight's the night! Scio's National Night Out will be held tonight, Tuesday, August 4th from 6-8pm at the fire station in Scio . Join us for free food, free ice cream, community booths, kid's activities, pony rides, and good company.

This is the Scio Community Improvement Organization's signature event every year and we couldn't do it without the help of our sponsors: The City of Scio, the Scio Fire District, the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Scio Mutual Telephone Association, Scio Auto Parts, Stop N Save, Scio CARES, Rio and Friends Pony Parties, and Lost Horse Press.

We'd like to welcome Buckles and Brews and new business owner Natalia Bonyad to the downtown Scio business district. They are located next to the post office in the building formerly known as The Fix Coffee Company. They will be open Monday through Saturday 7am - 3pm and Sunday 10am - 3pm. Good luck Natalia!

Today is the last day of business for the Scio Hardware and Mercantile. We'd like to thank Mike Scofield and Melodee Sherman Scofield for 10 years of service to the community. They have dedicated countless hours, numerous donations, and years of wisdom to the citizens. Please stop by today and wish them well in their retirement. And please check out Bridge Mercantile which will open in the same location on Monday.

The Scio Community Improvement Organization (SCIO) has completed hanging flower baskets down Main Street. The flower basket project is one of our signature events every year and one that really adds some color to the downtown area. There are many individuals and businesses that help to bring this project together and we'd like to thank them here:

The Scio Community Improvement Organization is a dedicated civic group focused on enhancing local quality of life, boosting tourism, and supporting small-town camaraderie. It takes money to fund our projects. We are the group that organizes and funds Scio's National Night Out in August and we can't fund these projects without generous donations from folks like you.
