Congratulations to an amazing Course Director. Well deserved.

We are continuing to honor our 2024 Silver Beavers who will be presented with their award this Saturday at the PPC Awards Celebration. Our next featured recipient is Keith Hawkins, Sr.

Keith started his Scouting career as a Cub Scout dad and then moved to moved up to Troop 72 where he has served as assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, and committee chair. Keith has been on staff for many Wood Badge courses serving as a troop guide, assistant quartermaster, senior patrol leader, and kitchen staff. On the district level he has been training chair, merit badge dean, staffed multiple Cub Scout and Baloo trainings as well as Fundamentals of Training and Trainers Edge.

Keith is a Vigil Honor member of the Oreder of the Arrow, the adviser to the Vice Chief of Administration, and can be found in the kitchen at every OA weekend. He has also held many positions on NYLT staff including commissary, quartermaster, ASM service, ASM program, and Scoutmaster. He is currently serving a 3-year term as the Patriots’ Path Council’s NYLT Course Coordinator. Outside of Scouting he spends countless nights and weekends helping the first responders in his community with radio programming and support.

At the invitation of Scouting U, an NYLT Course Directors Conference is underway today via Zoom with participants from all across the country from at least 43 Councils.

It’s uplifting to see so many dedicated Scouts and Scouters supporting this great National Youth Leadership Training Program. We are honored to have the Course Director of the National Pilot Course as the Course Director for this CDC, with 2 of our Assistant Scoutmasters on faculty as well. Our youth faculty represent several Councils Nation-wide!
