I was anxious about moving art classes back to the Senior Connections center, where we will have two different classes happening in one room. It worked!

Jaime Janda broke the students out of their comfort zone in her class, Painting Without Brushes.

On the other side of the room, Sheryl Tumis’s crochet class was also a big hit.

Irene Janda has to do her own thing and continues working on junk jewelry projects.

Do you have any junk jewelry lying around that you want to donate for our upcoming class?

Twenty-seven members carpooled to Flatonia today for our monthly adventure. First stop was Darlin’s Diner for lunch. The service was fantastic, and the food too! Our next stop was the Lyric Theater. Armed with popcorn and drinks, we enjoyed the movie The Bucket List. To end the day, we had to go next door to the Ice Cream Parlor for a treat!
Along for the fun, Cynthia Meyer, Gary Pauler, Carolyn Moore, Deborah Jones, Kathy Carpenter, Mary Kalinec, Brenda Ray, Michelle and Jim Hollan, Julia Webster, Betty Mullholland, Laverne Dornak, Freda Ellison, Paul Williams, Kelly and Richard Ortiz, Betty Stolorski, Bernice Leinhardt, Isabel Martinez, Frank Lafferty, Debbie Price, Benjamin Hajdik, Sharon Fredrich, Lillian Vanicek, Nancy Jasek, Bernie Gillings and Mary Ann Jurica.

We love summertime at Senior Connections. Why? Kids, grandkids, great grandkids! So if you have family visiting this summer, don’t let that keep you from attending; bring them along!
Today we enjoyed Koopmann Catering’s Chicken Spaghetti, cucumber salad, and glazed carrots.
Martha and Darlene brought desserts!
Kelly with Crown Hospice joined us for bingo.
Two blackout games.
Bennie and Albert are the lucky winners.

Something a bit different today for our Lunch and Learn program in Weimar at First United Methodist Church. David McCall joined us to demonstrate a few self-defense techniques. Some of the things he demonstrated included sacking your assailant with your can on their leg, poking out their eyes, and spraying them with long-distance wasp spray!
We are considering a 3-hour hands-on workshop so we can practice some of these and learn other valuable safety info for home and your car.
Let us know in the comments if you would like to participate.
We enjoyed tamale pie, beans, and rice for our meal, and Stephanie and Cindy called bingo, with Leona winning the blackout.
Thanks to Flatonia volunteers Kitty and Brenda for coming to help out, and Cindy for joining the Weimar team!

Members had a pleasant surprise when they walked in the door in Schulenburg. As we continue to rearrange and improve our environment, Denise Roberts did a bang-up job opening up the corner and making the room feel more spacious.
Brenda McMahan called our bingo game today. She works for New Century Hospice and drives all the way from Port Lavaca! She could not stay for the blackout, so Steph Shroyer finished the game with Carol winning the blackout prize.

When Deannie and Reagan are in the house from Schulenburg Family Fitness, you know we’re gonna have a great time! After a morning filled with Torok, Domino’s coffee, and camaraderie, we enjoyed a delicious pork roast from Koopmann Catering. What a treat! We don’t usually get pork in this was absolutely the best! It was paired with buttered potatoes and our famous house salad.
We start announcements, the pledge, and the blessing at 11:10, so get here early to grab a drink and a seat… all this to get everyone fed comfortably before bingo begins at 12:00.
Mary won the blackout game called by our guest callers, and Gibbs won the final blackout of the day!
