Joan Cunningham, 68
1954-2023

Joan passed away peacefully on the morning of July 28th 2023, after an elongated illness, at her home in Elizabethtown NY. She was a loving wife, mother grandmother and carer of others.
Joan was the daughter of the late Lois and Edwin Berkholtz of Gresham Wisconsin.She attended Lutheran High School and University of Wisconsin in Racine.
She had an illustrious career working as a system and actuarial analyst at AIG, Philadelphia Life and Compuserve. She was also Co-founder and President of TechnoCraft Inc. Two decades ago, after relocating to her beloved Adirondacks, she operated Joanie's Goodies and Emporium in Schroon Lake.
Aside from her career, she gave back generously to the community. Whether it be coordinating a July 4th parade, a Christmas celebration or opening Community
Center. Her passion was quietly assisting families in crisis, providing food, shelter clothing and guidance particularly to women who have experienced domestic violence. Joan was the founder of Families at a Crossroad of Elizabethtown NY and was on the board for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Joan is survived by her husband Gregory and her three children Gregory Junior, Joshua and Andrea and her grandchildren Zachary, Brayden, Grayson and Zelda. She is also survived by her son-in-law Ray and daughters-in-law Lori and Erin. Joan's sister Robyn and brothers Keith, Kirt, Rick, Tom, Den, Mike, Kevin and Mark. Sisters-in-law Maria, Jane, Ann, Kathy and Cynthia, alongside numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Heald Funeral Home in Elizabethtown NY on Friday August 11th from 5-7 pm. A celebratory Mass will be held the next day at Church of the Good Shepherd in Elizabethtown NY Saturday August 12th at 11am. Service will be followed by a Community Celebration Picnic at the pavilion on Hand Avenue at 1 pm.
