Contact us to find out when the Cub Scout den and Scout troop meetings are happening! For more than 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills

, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to

Try new things. Reinforce ethical standards.

Our Scouts had a great time at the Gas Up in Gallupville this weekend. Our troop has a long-standing tradition of earning community service hours by helping with trash pick up at the event. Also, this year, we were joined by our neighbor, ClaraBelle, who helped us with our “barnyard bingo” fundraiser! Looking forward to seeing you next weekend at Gas Up!

We had an excellent time in the Schoharie Memorial Day parade on Thursday night. Thank you Schoharie fire department for including us in the flag ceremony at the beginning of the parade. Thank you also to our parent photographer Liz for snapping pictures of our youth in action

So, what’s your favorite rope lashing? Square lashing, sheer lashing, or diagonal lashing?

The Scouts of Schoharie Troop 4 practiced them all Wednesday night. In addition, we talked about how the different types of lashing can be used in different types of situations and scenarios.

If you have a youth ages 5–18, consider joining up with the Schoharie Scouts. It’s a whole bunch of adventure and skills offered to our kids!

The Scouts of Schoharie Troop 4 had a busy Saturday. And in doing a good deed, we divided and conquered… Some of our Scouts helped the Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association with a little yardwork. Another part of our troop assisted the Schoharie Valley Mason‘s Lodge number 491 by serving and cleaning tables at the pancake dinner. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit our local food pantry.

This is what scouting is all about… Helping make decent human beings. Contact us if you’re interested in learning more about our program.

The challenge at this weeks Troop 4 meeting. Using limited resources, build a controlled cooking fire and sustain it for 5 to 10 minutes. Without a doubt, being able to start a fire on your own in the wilderness can be a life-Saving activity.

If there is a youth in your family age is 5 to 18, that might be looking for adventure or to build their skill sets, consider joining our scouting program.
