Donates To Lily Park

In case you missed last weeks edition of both of our local newspapers, our department is enhancing the fun at the Schoharie Lily Park, located just down the road from our fire station. We were recently awarded a Community grant from the Iroquois Pipeline Operating Company. The grant money was used to purchase a concrete Chinese checkers table that is freely available for anyone to use. This is purple dead nettle and is invading the Lily Park. Don’t recall seeing it last year. It does have medicinal and edible qualities but it is actually a fast growing w**d. It even was able to slow the growth of some of the path lilies which is hard to do. Right now it is strong along the upper path. If you could help pull this out before it gains more area, it would be appreciated. And feel free to pull any other w**ds along the path. It does not have any of stinging nettle qualities and pulls easily due to its shallow roots. We don’t want to rename lily park to purple dead-nettle park! Thank you. A LARGE BLACK TRASH BAG IS NEARBY TO PUT THE NETTLES IN.

We welcomed three new businesses to the village yesterday with ribbon cuttings: Farmhouse Artisans Shop at 303 Main Street, Lita Inkz at 315 Main Street, and Dayzed Cannabis at 434 Main Street. We hope you will support local business! We will welcome three more businesses very soon.

The barrels on Main Street were planted this morning by these volunteers (Rich and Colleen Quirion, Pat Clancy, John Wolfe, Betsy Meredith, and and Sue Kennedy). Many thanks to them as well as Schoharie Valley Farms for donating the flowers, Jason Saddlemire and Oakhill Landscaping for filling the barrels with potting soil, the village crew for positioning the barrels and keeping the flowers watered, and John Wolfe for arranging everything! Beautifying Schoharie!
