LASELL HALL -

Chapter House of Schoharie Chapter NSDAR (Open to the public by appointment)

Lasell Hall was built as an inn in 1795 by Johannes Lawyer. The building was given to the Chapter by the heirs of Josiah Lasell in 1913. A public library was opened on January 15, 1916 through the efforts of local DAR members with Mrs. Snyder) as the first librarian. The Chapter House has been maintained by hard-working, devoted members. Through a bequest of William W. Badgley, a member of the General Society Sons of the Revolution, the building was redecorated in 1969. It is a beautiful landmark in the Schoharie Valley, and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Serving the community as a venue for special events and local celebrations Lasell Hall has become a well respected gathering hall for the general edification and enjoyment of the community. Lasell Hall is available for social gatherings or small parties. Please e-mail or call for more information.

Spent an interesting day of history traveling to Plattsburgh NYSDAR Capital District Round Table with Chris Osinski and Kathleen Slater. The Valcour Brewing Company is an historic site, as described in the program by Craig Russell, Valcour Battle Chapter, NYOSAR, and in song by Stan Ransom, WWII Veteran (Thank you sir, for your service!). Thank you also to the Saranac Chapter for a lovely Spring meeting day! This is an interesting place to visit:

Schoharie Chapter NSDAR celebrated the new Old Stone Fort Society of Children of the American Revolution at the NYS C.A.R. Conference today in Saratoga. It was fun to see children from all over NYS display their leadership and public speaking skills, campaigning for office, and proudly reporting each Society's activities this past year. Schoharie is proud to support this new Old Stone Fort Society as it takes it's place in NYS C.A.R. activities. Pictured are the initial activities which received awards, and the Senior officers of Schoharie Chapter NSDAR serving as mentors for the Old Stone Fort Society officers

Schoharie Chapter NSDAR is proud to be the sponsoring Chapter for the newly re-organized Old Stone Fort Society of New York State Society Children of the American Revolution. My apologies for the photo dump, but it is our wish to thank one and all for attending on this cold January day. Our Chapter Regent Chris Osinski and Senior Society President Dianne Rizzo, along with Chapter members, worked hard to make this day special. We thank you, and celebrate our new Society!
