Our Africa team visited the Kim Jones House house near Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on Friday. It was a great celebration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the orphanage. Local government officials and representatives of other NGO's were in attendance at the celebration. Our American team was greatly impressed and moved by the home that was built for these children in 2012. It was a great day!

Update from Africa!

The entire team met Dr Wilde in Kigali Rwanda on Monday night. The team traveled to Burundi at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday and did not return until 10:00 p.m. that evening. They visited two schools that have been built by the Foundation for Hope in Africa. On Wednesday they visited genocide sites in Rwanda and were reminded of the 1 million people who were killed just 29 years ago. Tomorrow is a travel day as they will be flying through Nairobi Kenya on their way to Kilimanjaro Tanzania. They will join a celebration at the Kim Jones House the following day.

Today's update from Dr. Robin Wilde:

I have been visiting the Kim Jones House for the past 10 years and I never get tired of the children! Today I met some children who were just recently added to the home for children. I was literally in tears as I heard the stories of why they were there. All of the kids sang for me when I arrived as they always do when Americans come to visit. We had lunch together of rice and beans and mango and watermelon.

Some of the newer kids are not used to me yet, but by the time the day was over they were all holding my hands and wanting to sit with me. It's quite moving when you realize these children have absolutely nothing, and if it wasn't for the Kim Jones House, these children would be totally destitute or dead.

I cannot thank people enough for donating regularly to keep these children protected.

Last week's update from Dr. Robin Wilde:

Dr. Robin Wilde continues his trip in Africa in the country of Burundi.

I left the hotel quite early this morning for the trip to the upcountry of Burundi. When we arrived there was a great celebration and welcome. I have been coming to Hope School for 12 years, so I know the villagers, faculty, and students. They always receive me with open arms. I love these people.

Today I met with leaders to discuss a recent leadership change and review the budget. We also dedicated the new wall which surrounds the school. This wall cost $33,000 and was funded by the Foundation for Hope in Africa. It was a joy to see the completed project.

I then met with 65 members of the faculty and staff and elders from the village who wanted to question me about certain projects in the future. I then hosted a luncheon for all of these 65 people at a local seminary. The nuns do a good job cooking and this is the third time they have hosted a luncheon for us.

I will tell you more about Hope School when I return home. I've got some great pictures and videos I want you to see.

Tomorrow afternoon I leave Burundi and fly through Nairobi, Kenya to Dar es salaam to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. If there was a direct flight it would take about an hour. Since there isn't, it will take sixteen!

This trip has been extremely stressful in that I have to have repeated COVID tests and complete health documents for every country I pass through. Upon arrival, I have a test and two days before departure I must have another test. If I test positive anywhere along the way, I will be stuck for 10 days. I have spoken with other travelers from the UK and they have told me how stressed they are as well. But so far so good.

I am looking forward to my visit to the Kim Jones house, the orphanage we built in 2012 on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

I will report from there as soon as I have a signal again. Thank you for your continued prayers and I will see you soon.
