Today we'd like to highlight the request for gift cards. Grocery store gift cards are primarily used for situations where families have urgent need for food and do not have the time or resources to access local food banks. Plesion doesn't give the gift cards directly to families, but does use them to place food orders that are picked up by either Plesion or the child welfare worker and taken directly to the family in need. Grocery gift cards are also used to provide food for critical incident staff meetings for child welfare workers who are processing traumatic events in a family they have been working with.

In addition to grocery gift cards, cards that can be used for emergency clothing purchases are also very helpful for situations where children are unable to attend school due to lack of clothing. Because the goal is to get the children back to school as quickly as possible, these gift cards are a quicker way to get the children what they need so they can get back to learning.

Gift cards for Giant, Weis, Target, Walmart, or Kohl's can all be used to fill these emergency needs, so we are asking you to consider donation a gift card of any amount if you are able.

Thank you to The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit - Emmaus PA for the gift of all these reusable shopping bags! The bags are used to hold and deliver the donations to families, and then become additional resources for the families to use as well.

As you've probably noticed doing your own grocery shopping, food costs are increasing, making it difficult to impossible for some families to afford enough food. A local family with three teenagers and a pr***en is in this position and we are requesting grocery gift cards so that nonperishable food can be bought at once and in quantity to be able to help. Gift cards can be from Walmart, Giant, Aldi, Target, Weis, or Wegmans, and can be physical cards or e-gift cards.
