Subject: 2026 Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence Scholarship Opportunity
Dear Students, Parents, School Officials, and Administrators,
I hope this message finds you well. On behalf of our lodge, we are proud to announce the opening of our 2026 Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence scholarship program.
This $1,000 scholarship has been awarded for decades in honor of Mirabeau B. Lamar, a respected Mason and strong advocate for education and community development. This award is designed to recognize and support high school seniors who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming personal challenges and who embody perseverance, character, and service to others.
The Mirabeau B. Lamar Award of Excellence is not intended solely for academic achievement, but rather for students who have faced adversity, pushed forward, and grown through their experiences. These are the individuals we believe will shape and strengthen the future of our communities.
Eligibility and Application Process:
To apply for the scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
• Be a graduating senior from one of the following schools: Samuel Clemens High School, Steele High School, Marion High School, or Randolph High School
• Have faced a difficult or challenging situation and demonstrated the ability to overcome it
• Submit an essay (maximum 3 pages, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman) describing the situation, the actions taken, and the lessons learned
• Include the name of a teacher or educator who has had a meaningful impact on their journey
Submission Requirements:
All applications must be submitted by a school counselor or educator using a verified .edu or ISD email address.
Submissions must include:
• Student’s full name
• High school
• Essay document
• Name of selected teacher or educator

Timeline:
• Submission Deadline: May 15, 2026
• Scholarship Recipient Announced: May 18, 2026
Award Ceremony Requirement:
The selected recipient must be present to receive the award and will be accompanied by the teacher or educator they identified in their application.
We strongly encourage counselors, principals, and school representatives to attend in support of their student as we recognize their achievement.
Date: June 15, 2026
Time: Dinner at 6:30 PM | Award Presentation at 7:00 PM
Location: Randolph Masonic Lodge No. 1268
Failure to attend may result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
