Today, Indiana Democrats have an opportunity to choose not just a candidate, but a vision for the future. I hope delegates will embrace fresh perspectives and bold leadership.

Indiana’s Democratic Convention represents a critical moment for delegates across the state to come together, reflect, and make informed decisions about leadership and direction. Regardless of how individuals feel about past elections, the focus now must be on learning from history, being intentional, and making choices that reflect growth rather than repetition of familiar patterns that have not served communities well.

We are asking all delegates to weigh their decisions carefully in tomorrow’s proceedings. This is a time to stay alert, engaged, and thoughtful about the long-term impact of leadership choices. As Dr. Joy DeGruy teaches, systems and lived experience can shape how people interpret situations and respond under pressure, but awareness and intentional decision-making are what create real change. We are encouraging everyone to remain open-minded, disciplined in thought, and centered on accountability as they move through this convention process.

We specifically acknowledge and encourage participation and responsibility from the Marion County Democratic Party, Allen County Democratic Party, Wayne County Democratic Party, St. Joseph County Democratic Party, Lake County Democratic Party, Indiana Democratic Party, and Indiana Young Democrats.

Blythe Potter for Indiana Secretary of State We want to give a sincere hats off to Blythe Potter, candidate for Indiana Secretary of State, for showing up in our communities.

You have consistently made yourself present at forums, at J’s Breakfast Club, Senior Slippers in Gary, and at National Action Network forums in Northwest Indiana in Gary. You attended Forums in East Chicago. At every stop, you have not avoided the hard questions. You have engaged directly with the community, with the Black and Brown communities in Gary, East Chicago, and surrounding areas, and you have done so with authenticity and respect.

That matters. Showing up matters. Listening matters. And your willingness to step into real conversations and not just safe spaces is something we recognize and applaud.

Based on how you have conducted yourself in this campaign, we believe you would continue to show up in our communities if entrusted with the office of Secretary of State for Indiana.

We also acknowledge the strength and composure you have demonstrated throughout this process. As Scripture reminds us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9. May you continue to walk in that strength.

Prayers up for your husband who stands with you. Michael Potter

God bless you.
