The Capital Region Aquatic Center will do more than host swimmers. It will drive year-round economic growth for our community.

Regional and statewide swim meets, tournaments and multi-day events bring teams, families and officials to Schenectady County during off-peak months, supporting hotels, restaurants, retail and other local businesses.

Consistent visitation stabilizes employment, encourages new investment and strengthens the county’s tourism infrastructure. April is Autism Awareness Month. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death among children with autism, who are 160 times more likely to die from drowning than the general pediatric population. Often driven by a strong attraction to water and a tendency to wander (elopement), these incidents frequently occur in nearby water bodies.

The Aquatic Center will provide learn to swim and other programs specifically designed for those with autism.
