HSEAD’s Folk Art School Fall Workshop is right around the corner, taking place on September 24-27th at the Wyndham Hotel in Southbury, CT. So, circle your calendars, jot it down on a sticky note, set an alarm on your phone, send a homing pigeon, or do whatever you need to do as a reminder, because you definitely don’t want to miss out on this one.

Highlighted by classes on Tinsel Painting, Country Painting, Printed Books and Japanese Book Binding, Women’s Painted Furniture, Rug Hooking and Watercolor Foundations, this workshop is almost guaranteed to give you the know-how, skills, creative momentum and enjoyment for years to come!

It’s the “ART THAT WE LOVE” . . . Here is the WHY . . . WHAT . . . and HOW

Some things are “built” to last. . . Other things are “meant” to last. The preservation and legacy of Early American Decorative Arts are both.

In 1946, the Historical Society of Early American Decoration (HSEAD) was “built” to honor and perpetuate the legacy of a pioneering woman who researched, studied, taught, and authored what it “meant” to preserve original pieces of art, while elevating the standards of reproducing decoration.

Today, 80 years later, we continue to “build” on that legacy because this unique art form and the amazing community it has and continues to become was “meant” to carry on the tradition because it’s the ART WE LOVE!

As we celebrate and reflect on all the exceptional accomplishments of the past 80 years, let’s continue to share, teach, communicate, and grow our unique styles and knowledge of this very special art form and its community with others. Cheers to another 80-years and beyond!

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a time to reflect with gratitude on the courage, service, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes. It’s also a reminder of our responsibility to preserve their memory and ensure their legacy lives on for future generations.

Sharing in that same responsibility and preservation, and doing what we do best, the memory and legacy can live on through the unique styles and techniques of early American decorative art. Check out some of these stunning “Patriotic” themed paintings.

May we never forget those who gave everything for our country, and may we continue to honor their stories with respect, gratitude, and remembrance.
