Affordable homeownership doesn't happen on its own — it takes the right partners, the right resources, and the right guidance.

Better Community Neighborhoods is proud to partner Urban Redevelopment Group, New York State Homes & Community Renewal, The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC), Bill Lake Modular Homes and the other partners in Settlers Crossing. This new home development project will bring 16 affordable single-family starter homes to the City of Amsterdam.

At BCNI, we're driven by a simple mission: to build and support resilient neighborhoods where residents of all backgrounds can flourish. We believe every family deserves a fair shot at owning a home, and Settlers Crossing gives us a real opportunity to put that belief into action in Montgomery County and the City of Amsterdam.

We're proud to be a part of this important project and to work directly with prospective buyers to verify income eligibility, complete HUD-approved homebuyer education, and walk with them every step of the way to the closing table.”

The effects of redlining didn't happen overnight — and they won't be undone overnight.
We can't easily solve every challenge created by decades of disinvestment. But we can take meaningful steps forward.

This Fair Housing Month, we've highlighted how targeted investments are helping strengthen neighborhoods, expand access to housing, and create new opportunities for New Yorkers.

Through this work, New York State Homes and Community Renewal is committed to doing what we can — building on progress, supporting communities, and helping more families move forward.

Fair housing is about creating opportunity — one step, one home, one community at a time.
