As we close out Women in Medicine Month 2026, we celebrate the women who came before us, the women leading today, and the generations who will follow.

Throughout September, AMWA honored the voices, leadership, and legacy of women in medicine through:

🎬 The PBS premiere of 1001 CUTS, bringing greater visibility to the experiences of women surgeons and the inequities that persist in medicine.

🎤 Our Annual Women in Medicine Lectureship, co-hosted with the Women in Medicine Legacy Foundation, featuring Dr. Sandra Fryhofer and Dr. Debra Houry in an inspiring conversation on courage and leadership.

🌟 The 2026 AMWA INSPIRE Awards, recognizing women physicians whose leadership, mentorship, advocacy, education, innovation, and service inspire others.

🏛️ Presidents, Pioneers, and Progress: The Women Who Led AMWA, an ambitious new project celebrating the women whose leadership helped shape AMWA and transform the culture of medicine.

📚 The launch of the AMWA Journal Digitization Project, which will preserve more than a century of publications—and the voices and experiences of generations of women physicians—for researchers, physicians, students, historians, and the public.

Women in Medicine Month may be coming to a close, but the work continues.

Progress is built across generations. We honor those who came before us, celebrate those leading today, and continue building the future of medicine together.

This convening will bring together women leaders from across medicine to share their experiences, explore pathways to leadership, and discuss how we can support one another in advancing our careers and creating meaningful change.

The program features an incredible lineup of speakers, opportunities to build meaningful connections, and one-on-one executive coaching for in-person attendees.
