Toa Tumaini Foundation Toa Tumaini Foundation (meaning "To Give Hope") partners with local Tanzanians to provide quality education to children in TZ. Toa Tumaini Foundation, Inc.

Toa Tumaini Foundation was created in partnership with a local organization, Project Hope School. Together we strive to better the lives of street children and orphans, and those at risk of becoming street children and orphans in the village of Kariwa, Tanzania and nearby villages. We provide funding, resources, advocacy, and support to local community members in order to assist in the development and growth of their projects. Project Hope School assists vulnerable children in the rural village of Kariwa who are at risk of becoming street children or have lived/worked on the street in the past. Its members are also working tirelessly to open a center for children who are currently living on the street. and Project Hope envision an environment in which children can live and spend time that provides them with hope, encouragement and opportunities, empowering them to lead the lives they dream of as well as seeing that they live up to their potential. We are deeply invested in the lives of some of Tanzania's most vulnerable children. Partner Organization:

We met N when she was just three years old. Even then, she was quietly taking everything in; watching, analyzing, and nurturing her younger brother. Being raised by her grandparents, with neighbors, friends, and our staff all stepping in along the way.

Today, N enjoys studying geography, loves cats, and dreams of becoming a teacher. And that same nurturing spirit we noticed in her at three years old? It never left.

N has been able to keep learning because of the ongoing support of people who believed she deserved that chance. And we want to make sure every child in our programs has the same chance.

58% of students in Tanzania graduate from primary school. Only 35% make it through secondary.

Behind those numbers are kids who had to drop out because their families couldn't afford fees, or who fell too far behind to catch up. Kids who stopped being able to picture their futures.

At Toa Tumaini Foundation, we're working to change that, because our students dream of being pilots, doctors, teachers, and scientists. And they deserve the chance to pursue those dreams just as much as any child does.

A few years ago, our founder asked one of our local leaders in Tanzania what families do when they face an urgent need: a theft, a sick family member, an unexpected crisis.

His answer was simple: you go to your community.

In Tanzania, neighbors aren't just neighbors. They lend money, share food, get sick family members to the hospital, and watch each other's kids. They show up every time.

That's where The Village was born. A monthly giving community built on the belief that we belong to each other and that together, we can make sure children in Tanzania have access to the education they deserve.
