❌ Myth: Crosswalks only exist where you see painted lines on the road.

âś… Fact: Crosswalks legally exist at virtually every intersection, whether pavement markings are present or not.

Many drivers mistakenly assume pedestrians only have the right-of-way in marked crosswalks. The reality is that unmarked crosswalks exist where sidewalks meet at intersections, and pedestrians may still have the legal right to cross.

Knowing the rules helps keep everyone safer—drivers, walkers, runners, and cyclists alike.

This Memorial Day Weekend, AAIM honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

As we gather with family and friends, attend parades, BBQs, and celebrations, let’s also remember the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel. Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year — and sadly, one of the deadliest when impaired driving is involved.

If you’re celebrating:
✔️ Plan a sober ride home
✔️ Use a rideshare or designated driver
✔️ Speak up if someone tries to drive impaired
✔️ Help keep our roads safe for everyone

The best way to honor those who served is by protecting the lives of those around us.

Drowsy driving is impaired driving. NHTSA-linked estimates show 633 people died in police-reported drowsy-driving crashes in 2023—and experts warn it’s likely undercounted.

If you’re yawning, drifting, missing exits, or can’t remember the last few miles: pull over, switch drivers, or stop to rest. “Pushing through” can be fatal.

One glance is all it takes. In 2024, 3,208 deaths and more than 315,167 injuries resulted from crashes involving distracted drivers—and distraction includes texting, scrolling, eating, or anything that takes your eyes or mind off the road.

Before you shift into drive: silence notifications, set your GPS, and put the phone out of reach. If it can’t wait, pull over.
