Convatec has recently completed a multi-year, $32 plus million investment at its Rhymney, South Wales manufacturing site, expanding production capacity for Convatec's flagship Hydrofiber® Technology, the Company’s proprietary wound care platform that underpins the next generation of wound care innovations and helps manage the burden of wound care. The investment further builds on nearly four decades of expertise at the Rhymney site, supporting highly skilled manufacturing in the region and reinforcing its role as a center of excellence for Hydrofiber® Technology.
Hydrofiber, a soft, absorbent material that transforms into a gel on contact with wound fluid and creates an optimal healing environment, is a core component of many Convatec products, including Aquacel® Extra™, Aquacel® Ag Foam, ConvaFoam™, and Aquacel™ ConvaFiber™. Used in advanced wound care solutions, this technology helps clinicians manage complex wounds and improve patient outcomes. Over the last 3 decades, almost 1.5 billion Aquacel® dressings have been sold worldwide leveraging Hydrofiber® Technology, as the technology celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
