But here's what matters just as much. When caught early, at Stage I, the five-year survival rate is close to 100%.

Your 45th birthday is worth celebrating — and worth acting on.

The American Cancer Society recently updated its colorectal cancer screening guidelines. Screening is now recommended starting at age 45 for average-risk adults.

What's new? More ways to get screened — including updated at-home stool tests and, for the first time, a blood-based test option.

Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in adults under 50. Caught early, it is highly treatable.

If you or someone you love is 45 or older, talk to your doctor about which screening option is right for you.

More than 521,000 pediatric cancer survivors are living in the United States right now. That number is projected to top 580,000 by 2040.

Survivorship isn't the finish line. It's a new road with real challenges.

About 1 in 530 young adults ages 20 to 39 is a childhood cancer survivor. More than 95% will face a significant health issue by age 45.

Treatment ends, but the journey doesn't.

As Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month wraps up, the gold ribbon doesn't come down on October 1st.

Need a wheelchair, walker, or hospital bed, but not sure where to start?

Medical equipment doesn't have to cost a lot. Programs across Illinois and Wisconsin let you borrow, receive, or donate equipment at little or no cost.

Here are a few places to know:

🔹 GotDME.org: A free national directory for finding places to borrow or donate wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and more.

🔹 Elderwerks Lending Closet Directory: A statewide Illinois list sorted by county, with contact info for each provider.

🔹 Great Lakes Loan Closets: Serves Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Northern Indiana.

🔹 DME Exchange via UCP Seguin (ucpseguin.org): Connects people with hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, and more. Call 708.863.3803.

🔹 Wisconsin Medicaid Donation Sites: forwardhealth.wi.gov

A parent sits in a hospital waiting room with a half-finished cup of coffee and a notebook full of questions. One question comes up again and again: why aren't there more options?

Here's a hard fact from the CAC2 Childhood Cancer Fact Library. In the last 25 years, only four drugs have been approved specifically to treat a pediatric cancer. That's four drugs in 25 years.

This September, let's make today count by asking for more.

Contact your U.S. representative today. It takes under five minutes. Ask them to prioritize pediatric cancer research funding.

More than 60% of kids fighting cancer get bullied by their classmates. 💛

Read that again.

Some of these kids look or act different because of their disease or treatment. Instead of finding community, they get pushed out.

These families already carry so much. Treatment. Side effects. The emotional weight. The bills. Bullying shouldn't be one more thing.

Parents hurting in silence need to hear they're not alone. So do their kids.

Being a best friend takes no title and no plan. It just takes showing up. One card. One text to a parent. One moment of feeling seen. It doesn't take long. It lasts forever.
