We impact close to 90,000 individuals each year through our educational programs, live animal museum, etc! The Greenburgh Nature Center is a nonprofit nature preserve and wildlife refuge with a mission to ignite passion, curiosity and respect for our natural world. We have been a leader in environmental education since 1975. Our 33-acre property includes a woodland preserve with hiking trails, a pond, organic garden, nature's discovery playground, native plant meadow, green roof exhibit and more than 100 rescued and rehabilitated animals.

Last week we were fortunate enough to spend a beautiful October day with the team of Mayta + Sebastian Architecture, adding new life to our preserve. This crew was ready to get their hands in the dirt, and have a good time doing it! With their generosity and hard work, we planted 15 native trees to support our forests, including paw paws, serviceberries, oaks and more. These new additions will be appreciated by local wildlife and visitors to our grounds for generations to come, and we are incredibly grateful to the entire team of M+S for their continued partnership.

The Nature Center is more than a destination to visit. It is a place where animals find safety, compassionate care, and a place to call home.

Every day, the animals in our care remind us why this important work matters. Many arrived after injury, rescue, or circumstances that made life in the wild impossible. Here, they are given a second chance at life and the care and protection they need to thrive.

Our 33 acres also provide essential habitats for wild neighbors: from birds and amphibians to pollinators and countless other creatures that depend on this land for food, shelter, and space.

Join us for Mother Nature Storytime, a hands-on nature program designed for children ages 2–4 and their parent or caregiver. Each week includes a nature-themed story, an animal encounter, a fun craft, and outdoor exploration (weather permitting)!

Join us on weekends from Sept. 26–Nov. 8, 10 AM–12 PM for hands-on conservation work, community service hours, and time outdoors.
Tasks may include:
