Spring cleaning and bulk trash cleanup are here so let's keep fire safety in mind:

Keep trash piles away from your home, garage, and exits to reduce fire risk and keep escape routes clear.

Dispose of electronics, batteries, and chemicals properly. Don’t toss them in regular trash. Check your local hazardous waste drop-off schedule for safe disposal.

When discarding appliances, remove doors from refrigerators and freezers to prevent entrapment.

Take a few minutes to test your smoke alarms and replace batteries if needed.

A little effort now helps keep your home and neighborhood safe.

Did You Remember to Check Your Smoke Detectors?

When we changed our clocks for Daylight Saving Time, it’s also the perfect reminder to check your home’s smoke alarms.

Take a few minutes today to make sure your family is protected:

🔥 Test your smoke detectors. Press the test button to make sure they are working properly.
🔋 Change the batteries. If your detector uses replaceable batteries, swap them out when the clocks change.
🗓 Check the age of the detector. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. Look on the back for the manufacture date.
🏠 Make sure you have enough. Install smoke alarms inside bedrooms, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home.

Working smoke detectors save lives and provide the early warning your family needs to escape safely in the event of a fire.

Take a minute today to check yours! ✔️

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the tragic fire at The Station nightclub. A heartbreaking event that claimed 100 lives and forever changed fire safety in this country.

In the years since, fire codes have been strengthened with stricter requirements for sprinklers, crowd management, pyrotechnics, exits, and occupancy limits to help prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.

We remember the victims, their families, the first responders and we honor them by continuing our commitment to fire safety.
