On this day, twenty four years ago, 246 individuals retired for the evening in anticipation of their morning flights, while 2,606 people prepared for the next day's work, 343 firefighters readied themselves for their morning shift, 60 police officers rested before their morning patrol, and 8 paramedics slumbered in preparation for their life-saving duties. Tragically, none of them survived past 10:00 a.m. on September 11, 2001. In an instant, life was forever altered.
