Our Story

In 1997, I walked into my first middle school science classroom. I loved teaching and brought teamwork and unity to my classroom. In 2008, I left teaching to be a full-time mom only to find out that I was actually entering into the greatest teaching role of my life---only this time I wasn’t going to get paid for it.

And I wasn’t prepared for it either! It was the hardest, most exhausting job ever. It kept me up at night. How is there not more help and support out there for parents and families? At least with teaching, I had constant teacher improvement days. I was required do additional continuing education teacher trainings and workshops. Plus, don’t forget that I had to go to school for 4 years to train to be a teacher.

But as a parent...nothing! I was thrown into parenthood. I felt completely lost. I felt all alone. And IT WAS SO HARD.

Every night, I would beat myself up over how horribly I parented---spanking, yelling, arguing, and getting so frustrated I just wanted to run far, far away! There HAD to be a better way. That’s why I got trained as a Family Coach Specializing in Parenting and Child Discipline and developed the Teamwork Parenting Approach---teaching parents how to build strong family teams and close positive relationships with their kids through effective, loving, and even creative tools to replace anger and yelling. Yes--even in those real-life parenting moments!
