After a semester long study of oysters can make our coastline more sustainable and resilient, Virginia Heard’s 4th grade had their culminating field trip out to the oyster farm and to Savannah Boathouse Marina to do dock-side activities!

There is nothing like seeing students take what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to our beautiful coastline!

Huge thanks to for fueling this partnership and helping these students deepen their appreciation for their home!🌎🦪 And to Savannah Boathouse Marina for letting the docks be a learning environment!

It is amazing seeing students deepen their appreciation for where they’re from and give back to it! Thank you to the 4th grade students of Virginia Heard Elementary who helped bag oyster shells that will go back to our shoreline to prevent erosion and build back our oyster reefs!🦪🌊💪

We are so grateful to for the grant that is funding this partnership, allowing these students to step outside and make a tangible impact. Thank you also to .uga for guiding 285 students this week in this effort!
