Thank you to everyone who came out tonight and showed your support to the Walnut Grove Community and the WGHF. We hope to see you all at future events and meetings.

The vote is in and there were 131 votes.

Out of 131 votes, the results are as followed:

104 votes for Yes to the potential sale of the 0.39 acre of land of the east end of the WGHF property.

27 votes for No to the potential sale of the 0.39 acre of land of the east end of the WGHF property.

Majority vote was for Yes to the potential sale of the property.

Therefore the WGHF Board Members casted their vote and the vote was as followed:
4:Yes
1:Neutral

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all voting members no matter what side of the vote you were on.

Remember we want unity in the community and please keep the comments and posts kind!

‼️IMPORTANT INFORMATION‼️

There will be two county commissioners to monitor the ballots/votes and they will also be counting the votes after all attending paid members have voted. The final call to vote will be at 8PM

According to the bylaws, only PAID members are allowed to speak at the meeting. Beside board members, there are 11 members registered on the agenda to speak. The allotment of time for those that are speaking their thoughts on the possibility to sale or not to sale the property will have 3 minutes to discuss their concerns. Remember the only topic you are allowed to discuss is the potential to sale the 0.39 acre of land of the WGHF property.

Reminders that Robert’s Rules will be followed and maintained during the entirety of the meeting.

Voting will be from 0630 pm until 8pm in the conference room (first room on the right when you turn right from the main entrance) there will signs for direction.

The vote will be by paper ballots.

Two county commissioners will be with the votes and ballot boxes at all times.

You do not have to to attend the meeting in order to vote.
But once your vote has been placed we ask that you exit the building. We want to cut down on chaos and avoid any unnecessary disruption. ❤️

Reminder that only paid members on the roster will be allowed to vote and must be 18 years of age or older to vote.

A form of ID will be needed to vote so we can check your ID against our membership roster.

There will be county officers in attendance tonight.

Parking can be found at the side of the building, the front parking lot, and if necessary at the ball field. If multiple members of your family can ride in one vehicle please do so…we expect a large crowd of attendees tonight. Please do not block the drive…some members will come to vote and leave after voting.

The gym will most likely be the destination for the meeting, which means it will be hot, please plan ahead and bring water.

Tomorrow, Monday August 18th between 6pm-8pm there will be board members available to take your forms and membership fees at the Walnut Grove School/Heritage Foundation. We will have extra forms for those that need to sign up for membership.

Membership fees are $25 for single membership and $35 for family(immediate household/the same residence that are ages 18 and older).

After 8 PM Monday, no other membership forms will be accepted in order to vote Tuesday night, August 19th, at the the meeting. We as board members need the cut off to be Monday at 8 PM because on Tuesday night at the meeting we will have a roster of those who are paid members and there will be a roll call for paid members only when it is time to vote. We are trying to make this less chaotic and fair for all members.

The votes will be by paper ballots.

There will be two unbiased/nonvoting county commissioners to monitor the ballots/votes and they will also be counting the votes after all attending paid members have voted. There will be a final call to vote at the meeting before the votes are counted.

According to the bylaws, only PAID members are allowed to speak at the meeting.

ONLY those paid members on the agenda will be alloted time to speak at the meeting Tuesday night. This is according to the by laws. If you want to be added to the agenda to speak, you will be allowed to sign up to be added to the agenda until Monday August 18th at 8 PM.

The ONLY topic that is allowed to be spoken about is the potential sell of 0.39 acre of land on the east side of the WGHF Property for the potential placement of a Dollar General.

Robert’s Rules will be followed and maintained during the entirety of the meeting.

Depending upon how many are on the agenda to speak will determine on how much time each speaker is allotted. The board will determine this allotment of time after 8 PM tomorrow when we know how many paid members are on the agenda signed up to speak.

Walnut Grove Citizens, we as a Board want to clear up the confusion that has spread through the community the last few days. We as a unified board are sorry for any confusion that has occurred and hope that the information below answers the concerns and questions of the community.

First and foremost, the reason for the original meeting was to DISCUSS the POSSIBILITY of the sale of 0.39 acre on the east side of the WGHF property. It was NOT to discuss any destruction of the building. The WG school is not in question. On Monday August 18th there will be a line painted showing exactly what part of the property is in question for selling.

Also, a member of the board was approached by a community member who had been contacted by the potential buyer with a proposition of the sale of the 0.39 acre of land. The board member in question did not seek out the buyer to sale the land.

We also want to thank everyone for your concern and participation…Tuesday August 19th at 0630 pm we will bring before the community the possibility of selling the property…we want to hear from you…we do care what you have to say and how you feel. We ask for peace, calmness, and respect at the meeting.

We as a board apologize for any inappropriate actions that we have displayed at the meeting last night, this last week, or at anytime during our term as board members. We truly want what is best for Walnut Grove. We love our community. ❤️
