Earlier this month, two of our SEA directors participated in the Girls Engineer It Day hosted by Woodville-Tompkins High School. The event is hosted every year for students in grades 4-12 to learn about engineering through various hands on activities and presentations. Our SEA reps led an activity where young students competed in designing aluminum foil boats that could hold the most pennies. Some impressive boats were designed that day. Maybe some of these young engineers will be designing cargo ships for the Savannah Harbor in the future 😉 but hopefully they apply for our summer academy first!

Don’t forget 2026 applications are due April 6! ✍️

Each summer, the Savannah Engineering Academy takes students on a variety of field trips to witness real world engineering in action. Each field trip is catered to one of the various disciples of engineering.

Pictured here is last year’s civil engineering day trip where students got to walk through the construction site of some new SCAD dormitories near downtown Savannah. A huge thank you to our friends at Choate Construction for the tour!

Swipe to the end to see the progress of this exciting project 🦺👷🏻‍♀️🏗️

What a fun day!! Secretary of SEA Jerry Reeves and his daughter, Carrie Reeves (2024 SEA graduate) visited the Beaufort Air Show today to watch an incredible show as well as learn about various aircraft in the U.S. military.

Although the Beaufort Air Show concluded this Sunday you still have the opportunity to learn about aerospace engineering which underpins many of these aircraft's technologies! During aerospace day, hosted by Gulfstream, students apart of Savannah Engineering Academy will engage and learn about many of the aerospace engineering aspects that make modern flight incredible!

Applications are still open this week but are closing Monday April 21st! Get them in before it's too late and immerse yourself in the many engineering disciplines that SEA has to offer.

*Academy Dates: June 2nd-June 6th*
