Mawlid Day

Mawlid is a time when many Muslims reflect on the birth, life, teachings, compassion, and example of the Prophet Muhammad. It is an opportunity to recognize values such as kindness, charity, peace, mercy, and caring for others.

We believe that respect, compassion, and dignity should be extended to every person, regardless of background or circumstance.

May this observance inspire greater understanding, generosity, and kindness within our communities.

Observed each year on August 23, this day remembers the millions of people whose lives were affected by the transatlantic slave trade and recognizes the courage, resistance, and strength of those who fought against slavery and oppression.

The date also commemorates the uprising that began during the night of August 22–23, 1791, in Saint-Domingue, now Haiti an important turning point in the struggle for freedom and the eventual abolition of slavery.

As we remember this history, may we continue to educate ourselves, honor those who endured, and stand for truth, justice, equality, freedom, and human dignity.

Remember the past. Honor their strength. Continue the work for a more just future.

Today, August 19, we recognize World Humanitarian Day — a day to honor the people who dedicate their time, compassion, and courage to helping others during times of crisis.

At Every Life Matters Georgia (ELMG), humanitarian work begins right here in our community. Whether it’s providing a meal, helping someone experiencing homelessness, supporting a veteran, assisting a family in need, or simply treating another person with dignity and kindness, every act of compassion matters.

💙 Did you know? Millions of people around the world rely on humanitarian assistance each year because of conflict, disasters, displacement, and other crises.

Today, we thank humanitarian workers, volunteers, nonprofit organizations, community partners, and everyday people who continue to show up for others.

Real people. Real compassion. Real impact.

How will you show kindness to someone in your community today?

🌿 National Relaxation Day – August 15 🌿

Today is a reminder that rest is not a luxury, it is an important part of caring for ourselves.

With the responsibilities and challenges of everyday life, taking a little time to rest, recharge, and reset can make a difference in our overall well-being.

At Every Life Matters Georgia (ELMG), we believe caring for ourselves helps us better care for our families, our neighbors, and our communities.

Take a moment today to breathe, slow down, and do something that brings you peace.

Every young person deserves more than encouragement, they deserve opportunity.

This International Youth Day, Every Life Matters Georgia (ELMG) celebrates the potential, ideas, and voices of young people in our communities.

For some youth, the path forward can be difficult. Housing instability, financial hardship, limited resources, and lack of opportunity can create barriers before they have even had the chance to discover what they are capable of.

At ELMG, we believe young people should know that their dreams matter, their voices matter, and their future matters.

As a community, we can make a difference by listening to young people, encouraging them, creating opportunities, and making sure they have the support they need to thrive.

Today, we want to hear from you:
What is one thing our community can do to create better opportunities for young people?

Youth today. Change tomorrow.
