The “Work Mode” Standard
Office hours look a little different around here. 🛠️🐾

We hit the aisles today to proof two of the hardest skills for a service dog in training: Neutrality and a Perfect Loose Lead Walk.

It’s one thing to walk nicely in a quiet neighborhood—it’s another to keep a slack leash and a focused mind while navigating a busy hardware store.

What we’re looking for in these sessions:
✅ The “J-Shape” Leash: No tension, just a relaxed connection.
✅ Check-ins: Choosing to look at the handler instead of the distractions.
✅ Duration Settle: Being just as good at standing still as they are at walking.

Why the “boring” basics matter:
These moments are the foundation for the life-changing work these dogs have ahead of them. Whether they are destined to provide a sense of safety for a Veteran, offer grounding for someone battling PTSD, or become a reliable anchor for an adult on the spectrum—it all starts with this bond and this level of focus. 🐕‍🦺✨

We aren’t just training dogs to “behave” in stores; we are training them to be the reliable partners their future handlers deserve.

This blue-eyed girl is just getting started — but she’s already got the most important thing: purpose.

Chloe is a Service Dog in Training here at Walk Forward, working toward changing the life of a veteran who has earned every ounce of her dedication. Those eyes? They see exactly who they’re meant to serve.

We train dogs to restore hope, freedom, and dignity — one paw at a time. Chloe is living proof that something extraordinary is in the making.

Check out one of the new faces at Walk Forward!

Please help us welcome one of our newest service dogs in training — an adorable Dalmatian puppy who has just started the journey toward becoming a PTSD support service dog.

Over the coming months, this pup will be learning important skills such as public access, focus, grounding tasks, and providing emotional support for someone living with PTSD. Every outing, new environment, and new experience helps build the confidence and reliability needed for this important role.

You may see our team out in the community during training. While the puppy may look super friendly and adorable (because they’re still learning!), these moments are all part of the process. The best way to help is by giving them space so they can stay focused on their training.

We’re excited to watch this pup grow and eventually change someone’s life ♥️

Big dreams start with small steps. 🐾

We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Walk Forward family! Harold is a young Golden Retriever with a heart of gold and a very special mission. He has officially begun his journey to become Psychiatric Service Dog for an adult on the Autism Spectrum 🧩

Right now, it’s all about the building blocks: mastering his leash walking and learning to be calm and neutral in the “real world”. He’s eager and fun to work with.

As we step into the new year, we’re excited to reconnect with our incredible community and share what’s ahead for Walk Forward. From welcoming new service dogs in training to expanding our impact through upcoming events, there’s so much to look forward to.

We’ve been a little quiet lately while working behind the scenes, but we are back and ready to grow.

At Walk Forward, we’re reminded every day of the healing power of connection — especially between veterans and their dogs. The trust, the quiet comfort, the unconditional love… it’s something truly special.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our fundraiser at Wine Bar! 🍷💛

We had such a great time connecting, laughing, and raising support for a cause close to our hearts. We were having so much fun, we forgot to take more photos (classic us 😅).

Therapy Dog Re*****on was in heaven with all the extra snuggles.
