The Jaguar Project

The Jaguar Project We are working to establish long-term conservation measures to protect the habitat of the jaguar.

The Reventazon River Valley is one of Costa Rica’s most spectacular natural wonders, as well as one of its best-kept secrets. Spanning a lush mountainous gap between the Central Volcanic Cordillera and the Cordillera de Talamanca, it is the only place where large mammals can safely cross between two of Central America’s most important ecosystems. The Reventazon Valley forms the heart of the Barbil

la-Destierro Biological Sub-Corridor, an important region that has been highlighted by multiple scientific studies as being the weakest link in Costa Rica’s jaguar corridor. The most serious impact on this beautiful region has been the construction of the Reventazon Hydroelectric Dam. Areas of the corridor have been severely impacted by the construction of Central America’s largest dam, blocking migration routes for jaguars and other native feline species, including the ocelot and margay. This region is of particular importance to the protection and proliferation of the jaguar, which is threatened by ranching, poaching, and increasing loss of habitat and prey. In order to strengthen the corridor we are seeking to preserve the most strategically located properties throughout the valley. By pairing environmentally concerned investors with important conservation properties, we hope to create a contiguous series of protected zones adjacent to the new lake that will secure this region as a safe habitat for Costa Rica’s rich and unique biodiversity. Wildlife philanthropy requires a strong appreciation of nature and incorruptible ethics, and the opportunity to invest in wildlife conservation is more important than ever. We have designed a conservation and land-management program that includes strategies, resources, and personalized support for sustainable habitat restoration, reforestation, and permaculture options. The properties we represent are all eligible for generous Costa Rican government subsidies that provide for assisted reforestation and other wildlife protection programs. Our investment program provides investors with the option to either directly purchase land for private use in alignment with specific conservation guidelines, or to invest collectively in conservation properties with options for low-impact eco-retreat development, bird-watching, or wildlife rescue projects.
