I'm proud to announce our final grant recipient for 2026! Sandhya Singh is a deaf emerging artist based in Lokanthali, Bhaktapur, Nepal. She has been an active member of MIKHA for nearly two years, where she continues to develop her creative voice. As a deaf artist, communication can sometimes be challenging, but she expresses herself powerfully through her art.

Currently in Grade 12, studying education, Sandhya balances her academic journey with her artistic practice. She lives with her family, including her sister and her brother, who is a neurodiverse individual. Through her work, Sandhya continues to communicate her inner world with sincerity and creativity, going beyond words through her hands and materials.

Here is our amazing artist grant recipient, Adrián Arias! Arias is an international multidisciplinary artist of Peruvian Indigenous heritage working across visual art, poetry, performance, and social practice. His work explores dreams, memory, and ancestral knowledge as tools to connect communities and reimagine reality through creativity.

His recent monument ‘A Sweet Route: Tribute to Paleteros’ sits in Parque Niños Unidos in the Mission District of San Francisco, and honors and celebrates immigrant ice cream vendors. (Photo credits to Beth LaBerge/KQED)

Our first grant recipient for 2026 is Olatunbosun Faremi! This Lagos based oil painter is using his art to bring light to humanitarian need!

We will honor him and the other recipients at our Artist Salon and Benefit Auction on September 26th!

There is one week left to apply for the 2026 Weapons of Light Artist Grant.

The grant will close on May 15th at 11:59 pm.

The Weapons of Light Artist Grant Program supports artists whose passion and creativity align with the mission of the Foundation. By investing in their work, the program helps amplify artistic voices that bring light, inspiration, and meaningful impact to their communities.

Our artist grants aim to support artists, of any medium, discipline or way of life, to continue working toward the good in their spheres and communities. The Board of Directors for the Weapons of Light Foundation will review all nominations and select four artists to each receive $1,000 towards this goal.
