Fall spirit is in full swing at the Club! 🎃🍂

For the past five years, Brigid Finn of Brigid Finn Fine Gardening has generously donated pumpkins to Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, allowing our members to get creative and enjoy some fall fun. This year, Club kids had a blast painting, decorating, and putting their own creative spin on their pumpkins.

We are grateful to Brigid for her continued generosity and for helping create such a memorable experience for our Club members year after year. Thank you, Brigid, for your ongoing support of our Club and the youth we serve!

This summer, our Club members rolled up their sleeves and got their hands in the soil through Food as Medicine, a hands-on program focused on gardening, nutrition, and healthy eating. 🪏🌽🧑‍🌾

Throughout the summer, our members learned how to plant, care for, and grow fresh produce while discovering where their food comes from and how nutritious choices can support a healthy lifestyle. Now, after months of tending to their gardens, they’re getting to experience one of the most rewarding parts: the harvest!

We’re proud to partner with Food Recovery for RI, a program of URI Cooperative Extension, to bring this experience to our members. We were also excited to welcome alumni from their network, who came throughout the summer to share their knowledge and teach our kids.

The spirit of growing and giving extends beyond our own gardens. Through the program, we have donated more than 250 pounds of fresh produce to our community, including donations to Kitchen of HOPE at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wakefield, RI, as well as a corn gleaning in North Kingstown.

Club teens had an incredible opportunity to attend a Rhode Island FC match at Centreville Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. 💙⚽️

The experience went beyond the game, giving teens a behind-the-scenes look at the sports industry and the many career opportunities within it.

Teens met with the VP of Football Affairs, toured the new stadium, and learned more about RI FC, the club’s operations, and careers in professional sports. They also received VIP treatment, had the opportunity to be on the field for warmups, enjoyed great seats for an exciting RI FC victory, and even made an appearance on the big screen!

A special thank-you to Josh Flanagan for helping make this experience possible and creating such a memorable night for our teens. We’re grateful for opportunities like this that connect young people with new experiences, career exploration, and the world of professional sports.
