The Soo Pilots Association is raising funds to purchase a new $7,500 computer for our Redbird FMX full-motion simulator. This upgrade is essential to keep the sim running reliably and ensure it remains a valuable tool for our members.

The Redbird FMX is not only a powerful proficiency resource, but it also meets FAA Title 14 CFR 61.4(c) requirements—making it an approved and credible option for certain training activities. A copy of the FAA Letter of Authorization (LOA) can be viewed inside the simulator for your reference.

To help reach this goal, we are offering a special package:

9 hours of full-motion simulator time

Flexible scheduling in 1 or 2-hour blocks

One full year to use your hours

WE DID IT! It is my great pleasure to announce that Sanderson Field Airport, with help from many others, now owns a RedBird full motion flight simulator! Many thanks to everyone involved, especially Mr Dean Paul and the AOPA.

An Update for our Young Eagles Workshop attendees from our YEW Coordinator:

I hope to resume our Young Eagles Workshops on either April 12 or April 19, depending on when the RedBird flight simulator is assembled and ready to fly!

In the meantime, there is a very good, age appropriate game they can get familiar with... Spaceflight Simulator 2. The sim allows players to assemble their own spacecraft, perform a launch, and build things in space, which can be flown around the solar system. Players will learn about orbital dynamics and basic orbital maneuvers. This is NOT a "shooter game", but a fun learning tool. It is available for all platforms and and has been used by me for several years. Give it a try!

I have purchased the RealFlight Evolution r/c model aircraft simulator and controller.

If your child enjoyed the Young Eagles flights last June, they're going to love this!
We will be hosting an informal meeting this Saturday, November 2nd at 9 am, introducing the EAA Young Eagles Workshop Program at Sanderson Field in the FBO.
This program is geared towards youth ages 11-17, who are interested in aviation.
Content and materials are FREE, including learning modules on a variety of aviation related subject matter, activity worksheets, interactive activities, and so much more!
