Best of Friends Humane Society Best of Friends Humane Society operates in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Best of Friends receives no government funding.

We are a private, non-profit organization that provides financial assistance for veterinary care for pets belonging to low-income pet owners. Since 2012, Best of Friends has provided more than 1,100 low income pet owners with veterinary assistance. Our goal is to insure that no pet suffers or is relinquished to a shelter because its owner cannot afford veterinary care. The money that we pay to vet

erinarians for treating your pet comes from donations by individuals who love animals and from fundraisers. If you need assistance with your pet’s veterinary care, call 906-630-4602.

Important Shelter Update

Due to a respiratory illness affecting cats in our shelter, we are temporarily closing our cat rooms to the public this week to help prevent further spread and protect the animals in our care.

We are also temporarily pausing owner cat surrenders. If you need to surrender a cat, please call the shelter and we will place you on a waiting list and contact you as space becomes available.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep our cats healthy and provide them with the best care possible. Updates will be posted as the situation changes.

Lynn Ordiway and I have decided to do a combined training event on Sunday June 14th at 1 pm at 6615 Ordiway row. Anyone interested in this 3 hour training event should come out. It’s $100 per dog. Please bring the whole family so we can help everyone have a good working relationship with the dog!
