Happy National Caregiver Day!
What is a caregiver and what do they do?
A caregiver is someone who provides care and support to someone who needs assistance with daily living activities, medical needs, or other kinds support due to aging, illness, injury, or disability. Caregivers can be professionals trained to offer specific types of care, or they can be family members, friends, or neighbors who step into the role.

To Our Caregivers,
You are tender and fierce.
You are soft and strong.
You are fragile and courageous — sometimes all in the very same day.
Caregivers are the quiet pillars of support in our lives, offering physical, emotional, and practical care to those who need it most. You become advocates, protectors, companions, and steady hands during uncertain times.
You assist with daily tasks — bathing, dressing, preparing meals — but you also give something even greater: dignity, comfort, and love. Because of you, independence is preserved and quality of life is strengthened.
Your compassion does not go unnoticed.
Your sacrifices matter.
Your strength inspires.

Thank you ❤️

Community Action’s Take Five Adult Day Program has openings!
The Take Five program is a structured adult day program designed for adults experiencing dementia or memory loss. The program is built around two primary goals:
1. Providing respite care for families and caregivers
2. Promoting meaningful socialization and engagement for each client.
Take Five creates a safe, welcoming environment where clients remain active members of the community while families receive reliable daytime support.
The program runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, at our Community Action buildings in St. Ignace and Sault Ste. Marie.
To learn more or sign up, contact Karrie Gilbert, Take Five Coordinator, at 906-632-3363 ext. 149
