The history of Rum River Chapter 19:
Originally named the Mille Lacs-Benton chapter, our founders began creating this chapter in 1986 as part of the national Pheasants Forever organization, which began in 1982 in St. We officially became the national organization’s 19th chapter on Aug. 5, 1987. Chapter members in 2019 decided to rename the chapter Rum River Chapter 19 because most of the area the chapter represents spans the Rum River. No matter our official name, we are proud to be one of more than 750 PF local chapters nationwide, all of whom work together as volunteers to advance the Pheasants Forever mission of conserving pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy. The hard work of countless Chapter 19 members already has resulted in:
• Raising and spending more than $1.37 million on the mission of Pheasants Forever.
• Contributing to 530 projects, including food plots, acquisitions, habitat enhancements, tree plantings, etc.
• Impacting more than 2,010 acres in our chapter boundaries and across Minnesota.
• Providing scholarships to high school students for three decades. Members are working hard to uphold Pheasants Forever’s reputation as “The Habitat Organization.”
We welcome you to get involved in our chapter, whether through its monthly meetings, outreach efforts, occasional projects, or annual banquets and other events. Please message on Facebook or email us at [email protected]
