Today is overdose awareness day. I am wearing my "Got Narcan" shirt in memory of Pat Hashem.
I would also like to remind everyone when encountering an overdose to CALL 911!!!!!!
This person is someone's FATHER, BROTHER, son, mother, sister, daughter or FRIEND. If your lucky enough to have the chance to save that life DO THE RIGHT THING! They may not mean much to you but I guarantee they mean the world to those who love them, those who continue to hope and pray that they will recover and have a chance at a long healthy and happy life. Please do not take that chance away.....

Please read and share!!! Stigma, shame, lack of resources and understanding are keeping our friends and loved ones sick.

Tonight I met a woman who recently lost her best friend to an overdose. This woman has some serious recovery time under her belt. Her anguish over the loss of her friend led to her using and when she did she overdosed herself. She was revived and transported to MELROSE WAKEFIELD HOSPITAL. After a brief stay she was released.

I am so angry and was horrified to read the discharge plan she was given upon release. Are you ready for this?

"Avoid illicit drugs, they can kill you"

NO this is not a joke! This is the exact wording and ONLY plan written on her discharge paperwork.
