Two Mashpee Wampanoag cousins, Dr. Autaquay Peters‑Mosquera and Dr. Chyla Bingham‑Hendricks, earned their PhDs on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Chan Medical School! Seeing them cross the stage with their tribal sashes and eagle feathers filled our hearts with pride. MCNAA is honored to have supported them with periodic scholarships over the years. Congratulations to these incredible Tribal scholars.

Call for Artists: Roots Run Deep
An Exploration of Indigenous Heritage, Continuity, and Connection
Roots Run Deep is an exhibition that celebrates and explores the multifaceted nature of Indigenous heritage. Works should explore the unbreakable links between past, present, and future. Whether through traditional techniques passed down through generations or contemporary interpretations of identity, this exhibit aims to provide a platform for Indigenous voices to share their stories, struggles, and triumphs. New England artists age 16+ with a connection to indigenous heritage are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of art. All mediums are accepted.

Today is Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Day.
A day to remember the voices that were silenced…
The women, the men, the children who never made it home.
This isn’t history. This is still happening.
Behind every statistic is a face. A family. A story that deserved to continue.
The red handprint represents the voices that are no longer heard — a symbol of the thousands of Indigenous women whose cries were ignored.
Today, we stand in awareness.
We stand in remembrance.
We stand in solidarity.
Say their names. Share their stories. Refuse to let them be forgotten.
