The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties was pleased to welcome Bob ReRuyter, a director with our local Scouting organization, who was introduced by Jack Wilsey.

Bob shared updates on local Scouting, including renovations at Camp Trimount and opportunities for volunteers to get involved. We were proud to make a donation to support their work helping young people learn, grow, and serve our community.

The Garlic Marketplace is where bold flavors, clever creations and some of the festival’s most delightfully unexpected finds come together.

This year, 79 marketplace businesses are bringing sauces, seasonings, cheeses, pickles, pestos, preserves, honey, pasta, baked goods, beverages, farm products, kitchenware, gifts and plenty of garlic. You’ll find longtime festival favorites alongside new discoveries, with everything from garlic oils and black garlic to garlic fudge, garlic honey and garlic-filled breads waiting to be tasted.

I’d make this one less about any individual grower and more about the sheer variety visitors will find—and give people a reason to browse the farmers before festival weekend.

Meet the People Who Grow the Garlic

German White. Music. Spanish Roja. Chesnok Red. Georgian Fire. Romanian Red. German Red. And that’s just getting started.

One of the things that makes the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival special is the incredible collection of garlic farmers and growers who come together for the weekend.

They’re coming from across New York and beyond, bringing fresh garlic, seed garlic, braids, heirloom and specialty varieties, black garlic, pickled garlic, garlic powders, scapes and plenty of things you probably never knew could be made with garlic.

And best of all, you get to buy directly from the people who grow it.

What started with one hot dog cart in 1979 has grown into an Albany food-truck tradition.

Owned and operated by Larry Plesser, Times Square Catering has spent decades serving hungry customers near the State Capitol and at festivals throughout the region. Their menu is built around the kind of hearty, satisfying food that makes a day at the festival even better.

At the Garlic Festival, look for their garlic Philly steak sandwich, hot quesadillas, and pulled-pork sandwiches. The Philly steak—a longtime customer favorite—is piled with steak, peppers, onions, and melted cheese. Just remember to grab plenty of napkins.

You are wanted... You Love the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. How About Joining the Team?

Maybe you’ve been coming to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival for years. You’ve brought friends, family, and probably introduced more than a few people to one of Saugerties’ favorite weekends.

This year, come experience the Festival from the other side — volunteer with us!

It takes a few hundred volunteers to make the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival happen.

We’re especially looking for people to help with Security and Zero Waste!

And when you volunteer, you’re doing more than helping put on a great weekend. The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival is an all-volunteer event, and the money raised goes right back into Saugerties and our surrounding communities through the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties.
