This past year we lost three former Rip Van Winkle Hikers members: Pat Colangelo, Don Dobbs, and Gil Hales (arranged alphabetically) .

In their honor a memorial hike on Friday, April 30th of Giant Ledge has been planned.

Details:

Two meet up places (your choice)

10:00 on Friday at the Maurice Hinchey Catskills Visiting Center (on Rt. 28)

OR

11:00 on Friday at the trailhead for Panther Mountain (i.e. the hairpin turn)

This hike was chosen because it was on Giant Ledge that the Rips first met Pat and Moira. And coincidentally, it was because Pat became a very active member of the Rips, that Don and his wife Glenn were able to finish the necessary hikes to be 3500 qualified. BTW: Gil, was one of the earliest members of the Rips.
