What Does Increased Traffic Mean for Saugerties? 🚗
Traffic isn’t just about more cars on the road; it’s about the ripple effects that reach far beyond the pavement. At Winston Farm, the proposed development could significantly increase local traffic, posing numerous challenges not only for the area but for the entire community of Saugerties.
🌱 Increased vehicular traffic leads to higher emissions and deteriorates air quality, affecting human health and sensitive wildlife habitats at Winston Farm. Noise pollution can disrupt the natural behavior of local wildlife, especially species that rely on an undisturbed environment for breeding and feeding. In addition, it can be dangerous and detrimental to migrating amphibians like the Wood Turtle and many other species.
💧 More traffic brings more road runoff that contains oils, heavy metals, and other pollutants, which can contaminate our local waterways, including the critical aquifer under Winston Farm.
🛣️ As we consider the future of Winston Farm and Saugerties, let’s advocate for development that respects the natural and community assets we cherish. Sustainable planning can help preserve the unique character of our town while accommodating growth responsibly.
